Automatically save progress on custom forms.
Develop a system that would save information as it is being typed in to documents so that if an error should occur, information is still retrievable although it had not been saved by the user. This would help so that information would not be lost before it was being saved. I spent a few hours writing a document and when I went to save it, I got an error message that it couldn't be saved. Then the document was blank again.
The extendedReach system now has an autoSave feature and a “past versions” link to allow a user to restore to a past version, if data appears to be lost from power loss or computer crash.
See this blog post about the new feature:

Have a Save & Stay option when working on Custom forms. At this time when you click "Save" or "Save as Draft" it takes you back to the Compliance tab.

Hi Adam - In my situation, I was working on a document in extended reach and my supervisor went in and needed to delete the form I was using. She could not see that I was using the form. . I then went to save my document and got an error message that sorry, I was not able to save the document. When I went back to the document, it was not there. All of my data was gone.
I was able to speak with the support staff at extended reach who told me that there was nothing that could be done.
I spent almost 3 hours working on this assessment and all of my work was not retrievable. It seems like there should be something that could be put in place so that this doesn't happen. Either, automatically saving info as it is typed or alerting that someone else is in a document working. -
Hi Tonya -
Here are some steps you can follow to recover lost work:
If that doesn't help, could you please submit a support ticket with the details of what and when you were working on the document? We are almost always recover the Word Document contents unless your computer or Word crashed before you were able to save it to your computer. (just clicking File -> Save in Word)
Best,
